MY ALLEGED CORRUPTION CASES SHOULDN'T DIVIDE YOU SAYS JAMA

Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has yesterday dismissed, the Ant-Corruption cases hunting him and a team of former county tender committee as a political which hunting calculated to spoil his political image in the eyes of the electorates.

Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebration mark at Garissa Primary playground, the visibly emotional governor told the large crowd who turn up for the festival, that the cases is not about misappropriations of funds as it's made to be, but a political one pushed by his political adversaries.


The governor together with 6 members of county tender committee, which was since disbanded, is accused by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission's (EACC), that ambulances hired for the county’s hospitals were involved in malfeasance.


The Garissa County chief Nathif Jama and the six former tender committees are expected to take plea at Garissa high court tomorrow for leasing ambulances from Emergency Plus (Eplus) Medical Services, A company that is believed to fully own by the Kenya Red Cross without following the procurement due processes.



 

Former County tender Committee who are expected in court along with the governor allegedly includes Rahma Dekow, Jawahir Keinan, Abdi Sahal, Safia Mohamed, Mohamed Hassan and Salah Bare.

Jamaa pointed fingers at unnamed politicians from the county of being behind his woes, but he said he was confident he will overcome the cases facing him by proving his innocence at court adding that his vindication will shame his political enemies. 


He added that the allegations were made to wane his energy to services his people prudently.

The county executive said, if the Anti-Corruption Commission were genuine on the pursuit of the claimed corruption case facing him and his county officials, they should have involved the Kenya Red Cross in their investigation as well as the vehicles were hired from them.


"I am ready to appear before the court tomorrow to get plea if I will be required to do so. I am very sure that this case is nothing but a political storm that will fizzle out by itself with time and I know the political actors behind this drama. They are looking for political mileage by fixing me," he lamented.




Jama said he is always a law abiding citizen, who doesn't need to be scoured for by those who want him for questioning or to answer any criminal charges. 

"I only require being alert, by those who wanted me, for what reason and where to meet them. It doesn't take to amplifier that you are looking for me," He noted amid applause from some section of the pensive supporters in the mammoth crowd.

"The case that is facing me and my county officials we are informed are over ambulances, ironically you know the services these vehicles are doing for our people
," He explained.

"The ambulances are used on daily basis to ferry mothers in distress calls, if we have violated any law by hiring these Ambulances to serve our desperate people, then am ready to present myself to court even tomorrow and face the consequences head on," he said.

Jama has at the same time called on the residents of his county remain calm and peaceful saying his lawyers will fight a legal battle to prove his innocent and absolved his county administration of any wrong doing.

"I appeal to you all Garissa peace loving residents to be peaceful, we don't want problems to happen as the case progress, let maintain harmony and mindful of others, I have competent barrister to battle out and this case will soon be closed," he remarked.
